A complete guide on how to take care of your extensions at home

Hair Extensions are an investment of time and money. When it comes to taking care of yours at home it is important to strictly follow a hair care routine, this will ensure your extensions stay healthy and smooth throughout their lifespan.

  1. First and most importantly your hair extensions need to receive constant daily moisture, we highly recommend using an extension friendly oil or serum. As all extensions are permanently dehydrated, a daily application of a nourishing oil will replenish the extensions so they remain smooth and easy to manage.

  2. Here are the three key ingredients you must avoid on hair extensions, as they will cause irreversible damage; Protein, Sulphates & High levels of alcohol.

    3. It’s important to always use extension safe shampoo & conditioner that do not have the ingredients mentioned above. When washing your hair always shampoo twice, this will assist in cleansing any build up of oils on the scalp. Use a high quality hydrating & extension safe conditioner, leave for the recommended time and rinse thoroughly.

  1. Treat your hair & extensions once a week with an extension safe hydrating treatment. This will ensure the hair is receiving a large dose of moisture back into the mid lengths & ends. For a long lasting, smoother result you can permanently swap your conditioner out for a treatment.

    5. Our natural hair is significantly weaker when it’s wet! Which is why it’s so important to dry your hair & extensions. After washing your hair & extensions, apply an extension friendly heat protector to the mid lengths & ends of the hair before blow drying. Always blow dry your scalp area & the bonds of your extensions to at least 80% dry. Leaving your natural hair & extensions to air dry can lead to scalp irritation & natural hair breakage.

    6. A helpful tip before heading to bed at night: plait your extensions to ensure no friction or damage is caused while moving throughout the night & you will avoid waking up in the morning to any knots & tangles.
